Today marks the first meeting of your new City Council — and the beginning of our work together to move Ward 4 forward.
Every councillor must decide not just what they will do, but how they will do it. After listening to thousands of Ward 4 residents throughout the campaign, I want to begin this term with a clear commitment — my Day One Promise to you.
In everything I do as your councillor, I will focus on two guiding principles:
1. Build Partnerships
Some call it community engagement, collaboration, or simply working together. To me, it means bringing people together — neighbours, businesses, community organizations, other levels of government, and my fellow councillors — to find common ground and achieve shared goals.
I will strive to bridge differences, listen openly, and ensure that every voice feels heard and respected. You may not always agree with every outcome, but when you work with me, you will know the process was transparent, thoughtful, and fair. Because when we work together — as equals, with honesty and purpose — we can achieve far more than we ever could alone.
2. Pursue Efficiency
An effective city focuses its efforts and simplifies whenever and wherever possible. I will champion setting clear, measurable priorities and streamlined processes. That means doing more of what we know works while embracing innovation for the things that don't.
In simplifying, I will look to “stay in our lane” while pushing back against anyone who tries to muddy the waters by entering into ours. I will do my best to resist distractions that waste time or resources. I will focus on understanding the return on all investments we make to ensure tax dollars are spent where they will have the most impact on our priorities.
If I approach every challenge with a commitment to build partnerships and pursue efficiency, I believe we can accomplish more than any average councillor could.
This is my promise to you — on Day One, and every day after.
