Hey, neighbour!
It’s been too long since I last reached out to you, but it is time. Over the past few months, I’ve been busy with council meetings, connecting with our community associations, meeting with community members, and reading all thoughts, comments and concerns sent into the Ward 4 office.
We’ve received hundreds of emails and phone calls, and I’ve been seeing some topics that are affecting each of our neighbourhoods. Whether that’s getting better snow removal this winter, or making traffic safer for drivers and pedestrians, and the water emergency in between, I’ve heard you loud and clear: our neighbours want infrastructure improvements.
On that topic, see below to share your thoughts about adding a pair of new flashing crosswalk lights to two locations across Ward 4 to address the concerns of neighbours. This opportunity comes because of a motion that I joined Ward 3 Councillor Andrew Yule to put forward during the last budget debate. City administration has provided me with their list of locations they feel are the most in need, but I want to hear from each of you before we collectively make that choice.

Calgary City Council will be holding a Regular Meeting of Council on January 27. Council will be making a decision on when to schedule a public hearing on repealing citywide rezoning, followed by updates from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Audit Committee. Councill will also receive a final confidential report from the Bearspaw South Feeder Main independent review.
Calgary Planning Commission will be meeting on January 29 on a single development item in Ward 14, and five land use changes in wards 6, 8, 10 and 11. No items for Ward 4 are being heard this week.
Over the past month the Ward 4 team has been collecting locations from across Ward 4 from neighbours where they feel as though road safety can be improved. Last week the Director of the City's Mobility team identified five locations where analysis indicated the biggest safety improvements can be found. But we want to hear your thoughts and suggestions before Cllr. Kelly makes a decision so please email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Flashing Lights."

Winston Heights Community Association Puzzle Swap
The Winston Heights–Mountview Community Association is hosting its first-ever Community Puzzle Swap on Saturday, January 31, from 10:00 am to noon, inviting neighbours to trade up to eight jigsaw puzzles, enjoy warm drinks and baked goods, and connect over a fun, family‑friendly winter activity.
Seventh Annual She Governs Program
Applications for the annual She Governs civic leadership program are being accepted until February 6. Participants will get to take part in a Model Council meeting, listen to a panel discussion with leaders from local politics and public service, and get interactive learning focused on civic engagement and leadership. The program accepts young women and gender-diverse youth from Grades 9 through 12.
