Hey, neighbour!
Today marks the start of the Calgary Stampede, and I couldn't have been more thrilled to see the hundreds of thousands of Calgarians and visitors taking part in the Calgary Stampede Parade. It was an honour to join my council colleagues in the parade this year, and to see so many friends and community members on the parade route.
This week has already been a busy one for myself and my team. From Canada Day, to sneak-a-peak night, and now the first day of the Stampede, I have been meeting with neighbours from across Ward 4 and more than a few visiting dignitaries and politicians. One of the ways my team has welcomed visitors from other municipalities and orders of government this week was to arrange for them to receive temporary parking passes during their stay. I know how busy these visitors are, and how important the 10 days of the Stampede are to connecting communities, businesses, and government together to move forward our shared agenda.
This is just a small way that Ward 4 is showing some real western hospitality and making sure that when these visitors go back home, they have good memories of the Calgary Stampede and even better ones of Calgary.

On Monday, the team met with Onward Homes to discuss their affordable homes project in the community of Erlton. In the afternoon, Cllr. Kelly and the Ward 4and Ward 9 teams hosted the mayor and other council office staff for a casual afternoon of conversation about the city at Citizen Brewing.
On Wednesday, Cllr. Kelly and the Ward 4 team attended Canada Day events, including events at The Confluence, City Hall, Central Library, Sien Lok Park, and the Chinese Cultural Centre. Cllr. Kelly opened the Canada Day main stage with Mayor Farkas with a message of Canadian unity and Calgary spirit.
On Thursday, Cllr. Kelly attended First Flip, the Calgary Construction Association Stampede BBQ, and joined Mainstreet and Cowboys in ringing the closing bell for the TSX stock exchange. In the evening he attended the Dalhousie Stampede BBQ, and the HMCS Calgary Barn Burner.
On Friday, Cllr. Kelly rode in the Calgary Stampede Parade. He also attended a major $40 million funding announcement for Contemporary Calgary from the Government of Canada, followed by the Stampede President's Reception.
Over the weekend Cllr. Kelly is set to attend a number of community BBQs in Ward 4, along with attending events with visiting dignitaries and politicians to advance the interests of Ward 4 neighbours.
Cllr. Kelly was featured at First Flip by the Calgary Herald. He was quoted by the Calgary Herald about his visit to the Forever Canadian office opening and his message of Canadian unity on Canada Day.

Calgary Planning Commission will be meeting on July 9. The commission will be discussing items in Wards 8 and 10. No items are scheduled for Ward 4.
